Welcome! I’m the author of Young Adult books with a happily ever after. My books are full of adventure, emotion, paranormal, and romance!
Below you’ll find some frequently asked questions.
Where can I get updates?
You can sign up for my newsletter, and you can also like my Facebook page where I’ll upload excerpts and information. You can also find me on Twitter and Instagram.
Will I enjoy your books?
I hope so! My books are full of drama, emotion, adventure, paranormal, and yes…they do have romance. In fact, romance is a big part of my books, so if you don’t like romance being a central theme, you might not enjoy them. The good news is that I have quite a few free e-books, so give one a try!
What was your first published book?
My first published book was a romance for adults called Wild Heart, a historical romance published with Kensington Publishing. I have also published three historical romances for adults under Montlake Publishing, the first being To Seduce an Earl. A few years ago, I decided to use a different name for my romance, in order to separate them from my Young Adult books. You can find my adult romances under L.R. Olson, but because of content, they are best for ages 18 & up.
My first young adult book was The Mind Readers. This series has been by far my most popular series. Funny enough, I couldn’t sell it to a publisher, nor were any agents interested. But not one to give up, I self-published the series! In fact, all of my Young Adult books are self-published.
What do you do in your free time?
I love to travel and explore! I even went to college for archaeology because I love to study other cultures and history so much. I also love nature and natural science, and was a natural science curator in a museum, where I took care of rocks, shells, even dinosaur bones. I also enjoy art and, of course, reading.
When will your next book be out?
I have no idea as I’m horrible about scheduling things, and I’ve learned it’s better not to make promises. The books I work on have a lot to do with how well the books in the series sell, how good the reviews are, and how hard the book is pulling me to write! You can find updates here, and on my social media.
I do plan to write another book for The Chosen Ones, as well as Make Me A Match. I’ve also been working on a completely new series. The first book, Warrior, will be out soon.
Can you read my book or help me with my writing?
Sorry, no. I don’t have the time. I barely have time to work on my own books! Plus, legally, it’s not a smart move. Find a trusted critique partner.
Do you have an agent or publisher I can get in contact with?
I do not have an agent as they’ve never been interested in my work, and at this point, I haven’t felt the need for one. All of my current books are self-published, and I do not have a publisher. Any inquiries about book rights can be sent directly to me.
If you’re looking for an Agent or Publisher, my advice is do not settle for just anyone. A bad agent is much worse than no agent. Believe me, I know from experience.
Are you on social media?
I live a block from the beach!
I’m married and we have one child, a teenage son. We love to travel and go to Disney World.
I love to meditate and do yoga, although I’m not very good at either.
Some of my favorite travels have been to Hawaii, Alaska, Ireland, England, Scotland, Denmark and Norway. We also love to go on Disney cruises to the Caribbean.
When I was young, my favorites books were Anne of Green Gables and The Chronicles of Narnia. They came out when I was an adult, but of course I adore the Harry Potter books!
The shows/movies I can watch over and over are Pride and Prejudice, Persuasion, and North and South (the BBC version). I also like adventure, suspense, and all things Marvel. But in particular I love a movie with a romantic Happily Ever After.
